As I said before in the first post about our TA22 Celica (which you can find here), some minor repairs are undergoing or have been already done.
At first I decided to copy car key, as the original one is bend a little and I was afraid of cracking it inside lock.
The key set I received when buying a car contained two pieces. One fits doors, trunk and ignition. The second one was meant to operate in fuel cap.
As it turned out it could have been slid inside but wouldn't turn even a bit. I thought that it must be due to lock being blocked itself thanks to a long time of not being used.
I tried WD40, mineral oil, silicone oil, everything to unjam it. Nothing helped so I decided to let professional take care of it.
One may wonder why do I want to keep this cap. Answer is simple - I did some research and it seems to be original one, so called "arrow" cap which is unlikely to be found anywhere. You can buy replacement of unknown quality which looks like the one from the 3rd gen Corolla. Knowing that I couldn't resign of repairing and keeping the original chrome one.
So finally, the professional locksmith did his job brilliantly in less than 24h and now you can watch the key and the cap in perfect harmony :)
