This time a bit of touch-up work on ST202 - let's put a little cherry on top of interior cake :)

Our ST202 is after-facelift model which means that it has two SRS airbags, immobiliser, third braking light, few more differences. One of them is lack of ignition key light ring which in my opinion is one of the fanciest interior gadgets.

This is why I decided to buy used light ring from my friend Dawid. This is how it looks.

Installing this bit in 1996' and younger ST202 isn't P&P. Firstly you have to modify immobiliser ring cover to fit inside light ring, there is no possibility to mount both rings in the same place on ignition barrel. Then you have to add piece of harness to your car, and finally, if you want to use immobiliser after this modification you have to reattach it in vicinity of ignition barrel.

To begin with you have dismount immobiliser ring and dismantle it.

Then you can dismantle light ring and see that both have same outside diameter so immobiliser ring cover won't fit inside light ring.

Won't fit... Needs sanding off.

First dremel grinder, then fine manual sanding.

Fits perfectly.

You can add a bit of cyanoacrylate glue from inside to make it sit in place forever.

After that precision work (which is also explained here) you can go to your car and assemble light ring on place and then add a piece of harness to your fuse box.
I won't write it all here as one did it before. You can find useful explanation here (RHD pictures - fusebox is on driver's side ;) ).

I used 2x1,5 cable and soldered it to simple slide-in female connectors. I also attached male connectors to original light ring harness.

As you can see - it works fine.

After plugging everything in, screwing all things in place you can now admire how it works.
After opening any door or trunk lid the light goes on. It stays turned on for five more seconds after you close all the doors (trunk as well).
